CHRISTOPHER "ROCKET" PASQUIN - CHAIRMAN & CHIEF MUSIC OFFICER
Christopher “Rocket” Pasquin has spent most of his life around music — first as an artist/songwriter (as "Christopher Rocket"), later as a DJ/Producer (as "CR 2000") and label founder, and today as Chairman and Chief Music Officer of Cheiron Music Group ("CMG"). In that role he oversees the CMG Label Group, which includes CMG's flagship record label, Cheiron Records, its top Pop label, the famed Trans Continental Records, and a few others, including Rocket Records, a label he founded in 2002 while a senior in college. He also serves as Executive Director of Cheiron Studios 2, the creative successor to Cheiron Studios, which was the iconic Stockholm-based hit factory led by legendary music production/songwriting figures such as Max Martin and the late Denniz PoP that shaped the defining sound of late-1990s and early-2000s pop music. Christopher’s journey started not in a boardroom but on stage. In early 1999 he joined DIVERSE, a five-member pop boy band based in the New York City metro area alongside Mazzy M., Ryan “Prez” P., Michael L., and Eric V. The group performed through the heart of the boy band wave, but like many peers, was impacted by shifting industry tides after 9/11. By late 2001, the so-called “golden era of pop boy bands” (1997–2001) was drawing to a close, and DIVERSE quietly came to an end before landing a major label deal. For Christopher, those years were formative. He looks back on DIVERSE fondly and credits the experience as the reason he chose to remain in music — not just as an artist, but as someone who wanted to help others succeed. In January 2002, while finishing his senior year at Ramapo College of New Jersey, Christopher founded Rocket Records. At first it was a boutique development label and production outfit designed to give young artists a professional environment to grow before taking the next step in their careers. Over time it expanded into a full-service label with global distribution through CMG, where it now serves as one of the company's top labels. In 2011, Pasquin partnered with veteran music producer Tim Coons to re-launch Rocket Records on a bigger scale. Coons — now President of CMG — is known for helping shape the early years of the Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, JoJo, and other superstar Pop acts, and his contributions throughout much of the ’90s and '00s helped leave a lasting mark on Pop history. As part of his responsibilities leading the CMG Label Group, Christopher heads Trans Continental Records, CMG’s primary Pop label, carrying forward a storied music brand that was central to the rise of the Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, O-Town, and others. He also directs Cheiron Studios 2, the modern production house that pays homage to and evolves the sound of the original Cheiron Studios in Stockholm — the team behind many hits from artists such as Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Robyn, Celine Dion, Five, Westlife, and many others. Together, these entities reflect the balance Christopher has tried to strike between legacy and innovation: honoring where pop music has been, while giving the next generation of artists space to define what it can become. His work has stretched beyond labels and studios. Over the past 23+ years, he has supported numerous solo artists and bands across genres in different ways: song selection, artist development, management strategy, and label or publishing placements. While often behind the scenes, his influence is felt in the paths he helps shape. He still engages creatively under the stage name "Christopher Rocket" as an artist/songwriter, and stage name "CR 2000" as a DJ/Producer, reminding himself that he first entered the industry as an artist and never wants to lose that perspective. Christopher's story also includes sports. Growing up in the NYC suburb of North Haledon, New Jersey, he was a competitive junior tennis player and once considered a run at the professional tour before a wrist injury ended that chapter at the age of 18. Though he walked away from competition on the tennis court, he stayed connected to some players who ultimately went on to become some of the best in the world at the professional level, later working with an international entertainment and sports consulting team that has collaborated with top men's tennis stars, including Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and others. He graduated from Eastern Christian High School in 1998 — a school whose alumni include the Jonas Brothers, Bethany Joy Lenz, Antonique Smith, and Katie Sagona — and from Ramapo College in 2002 with a Fine Arts degree concentrated in both Music Business and Music Performance. Outside of titles, Christopher describes himself as someone who values faith, family and friends, in that order. He is passionate about music, sports, and world history, and he’s not one to chase personal spotlight or social media clout. Around colleagues, he is known for being approachable, collaborative, and respectful, more interested in building an environment where music and people can thrive than in being at the center of attention. A favorite motto he carries — taken from someone who Christopher has looked up to since his late teenage years, Backstreet Boys member Brian Littrell — sums it up simply: “If you’re not getting better, you’re getting worse", something that Christopher always keeps in mind regardless of the type of project or venture. |
